I have just started my search for a replacement tractor. I currently have a 1976 Powerking. I have looked at a Cub Cadet 5252 and was very impressed. A local dealer has 5252 in stock, priced at $7499 w/Mower & Grader blade. I have not seen a Kubota yet. I have one acre that has a few slopes.I am often moving piles of dirt, sand, gravel by hand(and sore back), spend lots of time mowing and snowblowing.I would like to have a front loader. My questions are. Is there another brand I should consider?
What should I stay away from?

My feelings -and these are just my feelings, if you want to do FEL work, 4 wd drive should be considered...I have heard good things about the new Cub 5000 series. I think their price is very, very competitive. They offer a 4wd in Gas or diesel in the 5000 series. I thought I saw the watercooled gas 4wd w/mower for just about $9k -maybe a few dollars less

I agree, if you plan on moving dirt or snow in any fashion, don't accept less than 4wd.

Aside from that the CC 5252 only compares to the BX 1500 in that they both cut grass. One is an air cooled gas engine and the other is a water cooled diesel.

The BX is way more tractor. ....

Ditto on the 4WD, especially if you are moving snow and you've got more than just flat terrain. I also would almost have to insist on having a diesel power plant rather than gas. I have a few year old Cub (Mitsubishi Drivetrain) and now part of that line is made by Mahindra. So if there is a Mahindra dealer in your area I would look at them as well. ....

The Cub Cadet 5252 (2wd) starts at $7499. How does that compare to the Kubota?
